United secured automatic entry into the playoff rounds thanks to their win in the Active Nation Scottish Cup last season. The Arabs beat Ross County 3-0 in the final at Hampden Park with all three goals coming in the second half. David Goodwillie netted the opener while Craig Conway scored a brace in that game.

AEK Athens finished fourth in Greece last season but managed to bypass the qualifying rounds thanks to their performance in the Super League playoffs. The Dusan Bajevic coached side have several faces that Dundee fans will not have a difficulty in recognizing- Greek international Nikos Liberopoulos, Senegalese midfielder Papa Bouba Diop and forwards Rafik Djebbour and Ismael Blanco to name a few.

AEK were recently crowned champions in the Sydney Festival of Football. They finished first in the competition that also included Glasgow Rangers, champions of the Scottish Premier League last season. AEK in fact beat Rangers 1-0 in Sydney, with Nathan Burns netting the winner.
