The first all Portuguese European club tie sees Benfica take on domestic rivals Braga in the semifinals of the Europa League this Thursday. See live action from Benfica vs Sporting Braga in the Europa League by joining Live Sport Network today.

Benfica eliminated Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven in the last eight. The Eagles thrashed PSV 4-1 in Lisbon, but were given a rude shock in the return leg in Holland as PSV went 2-0 ahead to reduce their three goal advantage to one. However Luisao’s goal helped calm some wildly beating Benfica hearts and the comeback was complete in the second half through an Oscar Cardozo penalty, allowing Benfica to progress 6-3 on aggregate.

Braga did not have it as easy as Benfica in their last round tie. Drawn against Dynamo Kiev, the conquerors of Manchester City, the Portuguese side drew 1-1 away and produced a goalless stalemate at home to eliminate their opponents on the away goals rule.

In the Portuguese league, Benfica have dominated Sporting Braga, with the latter’s last win at the Estadio da Luz coming way back in the 1954/55 season. The winner of this tie will take on the winner of the Porto-Villarreal tie in the final.
