The two teams could not find a way past each in Greece on Match Day 3 and had to settle for a 0-0 score line at the end. Aris had been unbeaten at home in European competition for the last forty years and they were successfully able to extend that proud record a fortnight ago against Leverkusen.

There was little that separated the two teams in their last European meeting. Michal Kadlec came closest for Leverkusen in the first half while Sergio Koke and Juan Carlos Ruiz both had opportunities for Aris in the second half.

Bayer currently lead UEFA Europa League Group B with five points from three fixtures and are the only unbeaten team in the group. Aris are in second with four points, with Atletico Madrid and Rosenborg both snapping at the Greek side’s heels.
