The Turks are aspiring to avoid another backlash from supporters by making it to the final stages in Ukraine and Poland. Their failure to qualify for the 2010 world cup meant that the reign of Faith Terim was terminated. New boss Guus Hiddink has named a strong side despite being hit by injuries.

In another potential blow, goalkeeper Hakan Arikan withdrew with an ankle problem, meaning that Cenk Gonen had to be called up as a late replacement. Turkey are already without goalkeeper Volkan Demirel, İbrahim Kas and Caglar Birinci, who are all out with injuries.

Meanwhile Belgium also have a new boss at the helm in the form of Georges Leekens. The Belgians open this campaign at home against Germany on Friday in what is expected to be a tough game for them. Belgium have also been hit with injuries to key players and will be without Mehdi Carcela-Gonzalez, Jonathan Legear, Silvio Proto, Jelle Van Damme and Nicolas Lombaerts for this game.
