Turkey head into their vital Euro 2012 qualifying match against Austria on Tuesday with coach Guus Hiddink confirming that he will be handing over his resignation should his side fail to collect maximum points from their next two games. Tipped as favorites for the play-offs spot just behind Germany, Turkey have had a disappointing start to their Euro 2012 qualifying campaign and are currently third in their group table, one point behind Austria who do have a game in hand.

Should Austria win their clash against Belgium this weekend, Turkey will find themselves four points away from the second spot though three of their remaining four games will be played at home.

Hiddink said that failure to collect six points from the next two games, against Austria this weekend and Belgium in June, would mean that he has failed as a coach and will instead hand over his resignation to the Turkish FA.

Defeats in their last two qualifiers against Germany and Azerbaijan has increased the pressure on Hiddink who will be aware that another defeat on Tuesday will put a major dent on his side’s hopes of qualifying to their second successive European Championship.
