Switzerland lost their opening game 1-3 to England last month and need to start winning games if they are to challenge for the top 2 spots in Group G, which contains only 5 teams. Coach Ottmar Hitzfeld is concerned over the fitness of Reto Ziegler, Marc Streller, Pirmin Schwegler and Tranquillo Barnetta ahead of this round of qualifiers. The Swiss play Montenegro on Friday before facing Wales on Tuesday.

Meanwhile Wales need to recover from a shock 1-0 loss to Montenegro in their opening game. Caretaker manager Brian Flynn, who is in charge after John Toshack resigned, is battling multiple injury issues with players such as Robert Earnshaw, Brian Stock and Neal Eardley. He has called up Andrew Crofts, Darcy Blake and Ryan Doble. Danny Collins has been recalled to the squad after an absence of three years.

Wales play Bulgaria on Friday before taking on Switzerland on Tuesday.
