The Swiss were the only team in the World Cup to beat winners Spain though coach Ottmar Hitzfeld will be disappointed that it was not enough to help them progress to the next round. The former Bayern Munich coach will now be hopeful of building on that performance during the Euro 2012 qualifying campaign by booking a place in their third successive European Championship.

Injury to Philipp Degen has seen Hitzfeld call up Young Boys defender Scott Sutter for the first time. The London born defender hold a Swiss passport after staying in the country for more than eight years and is expected to play some part in the match against England next week.

Meanwhile Australia’s new coach Holger Osieck has ringed up the changes to his squad with Middlesbrough striker Scott McDonald being the high profile new face in the squad. McDonald was not picked up in Australia’s World Cup squad after failing to score in 16 appearances for his country though Osieck is optimistic that he will prove to be a key player for the national side.
