The appointment of Paulo Bento has revived Portugal’s Euro 2012 qualifying campaign but the Seleccaos would have found it difficult with captain Cristiano Ronaldo out of action due to injury while Nani too is not fully fit after only recently recovering from an injury of his own.

While both the players were included in the squad, Ronaldo has been ruled out for at least three weeks after aggravating his muscle injury after playing for Real Madrid against both Lyon and Atletico Madrid in spite of not being fully fit.

Bento has called up Ruben Micael with the Porto midfielder expected to make his debut after the Portugal coach said that he wanted to try out new players and tactics. Porto duo Rolando and Silvestre Varela have also found their place in the squad along with Real Madrid’s Pepe and Braga defender Silvio.
