Having failed to reach the FIFA World Cup 2010, Turkey parted ways with long-time coach Fatih Terim and appointed enigmatic Dutchman Guus Hiddink. In his first squad selection for the Euro 2012 qualifiers, Hiddink has called up Omer Erdogan. German-born midfielder Ozer Hurmacı may also be handed a senior debut in this game after some impressive shows at the under -21 level for Turkey. However Hiddink will be missing goalkeeper Volkan Demirel, İbrahim Kas and left-back Caglar Birinci through injuries.

Meanwhile Kazakhstan national team coach Bernd Storck, who signed a one-year contract extension at the start of this year will hope that his side can win a few games and upset top names in this qualifying group, which also includes Germany, Austria and Belgium.

The two sides have met only two times previously during the qualifying rounds of the World Cup 2006. Turkey won both games by handsome margins of 4-0 and 6-0, making them clear favorites to win this time as well.
