The French side is slowly finding its feet since the World Cup fiasco in South Africa early this summer and started the qualifying campaign on a poor note following a shock defeat at home to Belarus. However manager Laurent Blanc rang in the changes for the next game as two goals in space of six minutes by Karim Benzema and Florent Malouda helped them secure a comfortable victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Blanc has decided to recall Yoann Gourcuff after the Lyon midfielder was suspended for two games for his part in the players’ strike in South Africa while Dimitri Payet’s excellent form early in the season could see the Saint Etienne forward play some part in the match against Romania.

Romania on the other hand will be hoping to finally end their wait for a victory on the French soil with the team last beating France away back in 1967.
