Shakhtar Donetsk open their new Champions League campaign at home on Matchday 1 when they welcome Partizan Belgrade in what appears to be a must-win game for both sides. Watch every second of live Champions League action by signing up with us here on Live Sport Network.

The Ukrainian club have been strengthened by the arrival of striker Eduardo from Arsenal and will hope his flair can help them progress beyond the group stages for the first time. Shakhtar have never progressed to the second round of the Champions League in five tries prior to this season.

Shakhtar coach Mircea Lucescu is confident that they have got the resources to go beyond the group stages from a group that also includes Arsenal and Braga. New arrivals at the club include Bruno Renan and Vitaliy Vitsenets.

This is only the second Champions League campaign for Partizan following their debut way back in the 2003-04 season. The arrival of goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic from rivals Red Star is sure to strengthen the side as they look to progress beyond the group stages of this competition. The two sides had met in last season's Europa league with Shakhtar winning 4-1 in the home leg and losing 1-0 in the return leg.
