The Gunners have been very impressive in the competition so far and have already slammed home 14 goals from their opening three group games. Victories over Shakhtar, Partizan and Braga has seen Arsenal open up a six point lead over third placed Braga and the English side will book a place in the knockout stage of the competition if they secure all three points on Wednesday.

Arsenal maintained their excellent form in the competition with a third successive victory when they secured a thumping 5-1 win over Shakhtar in their last match. Alex Song, Samir Nasri, Cesc Fabregas, Jack Wilshire and Marouane Chamakh were all on target before former Arsenal striker Eduardo managed to score a consolation goal for the visitors.

Shakhtar coach Mircea Lucescu was disappointed with his side’s display at the Emirates Stadium and was very critical of his defenders, faulting them for three of the five goals scored by the Gunners.

With Shakhtar still in contention for the second qualifying spot, Lucescu will be expecting a vastly improved performance from his side and will be hopeful of collecting at least a point from the game.
