The Serbian champions have been very poor in the group stages of the competition, losing all of their opening four games and scoring just one goal in the process. While his side is out of contention for even the third spot, coach Aleksandar Stanojevic will be hopeful that they will at least open their account in the group stages and will be expecting at least a point against Shakhtar on Tuesday.

Meanwhile Shakhtar Donetsk will be aware that a victory against Partizan could book them a place in the knockout stages of the competition with Braga facing a difficult task against Arsenal. The Ukrainian side is three points clear in the race for the second qualifying spot and with Arsenal expected to secure all three points against Braga, a victory for Shakhtar will see them all but confirm their participation in the knockout stages.

Coach Mircea Lucescu will be optimistic of securing a victory in Serbia having already beaten Partizan early in the campaign. A Darijo Srna goal midway through the second half was enough for Shakhtar to secure all three points against Partizan in their opening group game.
