Sidney Govou's opening goal looked to have given a dream start for the Greek club against Barcelona in their first game, but a brace from Lionel Messi and goals from David Villa, Pedro and Dani Alves gave Barca a grand win and left Panathinaikos coach Nikos Nioplias a puzzled man.

The Greek titleholders will however be confident of bouncing back as their only previous meeting with Copenhagen ended in a 1-0 win three years ago in the UEFA Cup.

Copenhagen, meanwhile have begun on a winning note, having bested Rubin Kazan by a 1-0 margin on Matchday 1. Dame N'Doye's 87th minute header settled the game in favor of the Danish champions, who will be confident of building upon that win on Matchday 2. N’Doye was the one who scored the winner for Panathinaikos when they met Copenhagen three years ago and he will be relishing a return to his former club on Wednesday.
