Copenhagen were surprise qualifiers from Group D behind FC Barcelona, beating Russian champions Rubin Kazan and Greek giants Panathinaikos to second spot in the group. Seven of the ten points that the Danish team collected were at the Parken Stadium and they will again hope to produce a strong home performance against Carlo Ancelotti’s side on Tuesday.

FCK beat Panathinaikos and Rubin Kazan at home in the group stages and also held mighty Barcelona to a draw. Copenhagen winger Jesper Gronkjaer, who converted a penalty in the decisive 3-1 final day win over Panathinaikos, represented Chelsea between 2000 and 2004.

Chelsea cruised through Group F and won five games in a row before losing 1-0 to Marseille on Match Day 6. The Blues’ only previous meeting against Copenhagen, in the erstwhile UEFA Cup, ended in a 2-1 aggregate victory for the English side. Record winter signing Fernando Torres is expected to make his European bow for Chelsea in this fixture.
