Bayern won 1-0 against Inter in the first leg in Italy thanks to Mario Gomez’s last gasp winner. Striker Gomez is one of Bayern’s three players on a defensive tightrope - Toni Kroos and Danijel Pranjic are the other two who could miss a potential quarterfinal if booked at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday night.

Inter are unbeaten in their last two visits to Munich. The Italian outfit won 2-0 when the two sides first met in the erstwhile Champions Club Cup in 1989. A more recent meeting in the 2006/07 season ended in a 1-1 draw, with Patrick Vieira’s late strike cancelling out Roy Makaay’s opener for Bayern.

Inter have not beaten Bundesliga opposition in the Champions League since getting the better of Bayer Leverkusen eight years ago. Bayern have an excellent record in UEFA club competition going into this fixture- they have never lost a two legged tie in which they won the first leg away from home.
