The Italian side have been woeful so far this season and have managed to collect just three points from their first three games in the group stage. Roma started their group stage campaign with a disappointing defeat to Bayern Munich in their first match but bounced back to secure a narrow victory over Cluj in their next game.

However the Italian side suffered a shock 3-1 defeat at home to Basel in their last match, increasing the pressure on coach Claudio Ranieri. Alexander Frei opened the scoring early in the 13th minute but Marco Borriello equalized for the hosts. However Basel restored their lead two minutes before the half time whistle through Samuel Inkoom before Cabral wrapped up the proceedings late in injury time.

Basel on the other hand will be pleased with their performance against Roma and will be hoping for a repeat in front of their home fans. The Swiss champions are second in the group table thanks to their superior goal difference and with Cluj expected to lose out against Bayern, Basel can go three points clear with just two games remaining.
