The Spanish giants were dumped out of the tournament in the knockout stage thanks to their narrow defeat to Lyon in the first leg last season but manager Jose Mourinho will be confident that his side will come away from their latest visit to France with three points in the bag.

Madrid started their Champions League campaign with an efficient performance against Ajax in the first leg as an own goal by Vurnon Anita and another by Gonzalo Higuain helped them secure a comfortable victory over the Dutch side.

Auxerre on the other hand suffered a defeat in their first match of the group stage with Zlatan Ibrahimovic scoring a brace in the second half to lead AC Milan to a comfortable 2-0 victory. While his side is not expected to put up a real challenge for the top two spots, manager Jean Fernandez will be hopeful that they can celebrate their return to the competition by putting up a good performance in front of their home crowd.

Alexandre Licata is the only major injury concern for Auxerre with the midfielder out with an ankle injury while Madrid will be missing a host of players with Kaka, Raul Albiol, Ezequiel Garay and Fernando Gago all out injured.
