Ajax’s hopes of securing a shock qualification to the knockout stages of the competition were dashed on Matchday 5 as they suffered another defeat to Real Madrid. With his side now eliminated from the Champions League, Ajax coach Martin Jol will be keen to make sure that his side holds on to its third place in the group table and qualify to the Europa League.

Ajax suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat to Real Madrid in their last match as the Spanish giants ran riot with goals from Karim Benzema and Alvaro Arbeloa before Cristiano Ronaldo managed to grab a brace late in the game.

Milan on the other hand built on their excellent performance against Madrid with a comfortable 2-0 win away to Auxerre with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ronaldinho on target. With Madrid already five points ahead at the top of the table, Milan will be finishing second regardless of the results on Tuesday which could mean a run out for some of the fringe players.
