The Baggies were dumped out of the competition in this stage by Arsenal last season and while Premier League survival takes priority, manager Roberto Di Matteo will be keen to put up a good showing against the richest club in the world and pull off an upset on Wednesday.

Manchester City on the other hand will be hoping to improve on their semi final finish in the competition from last season. With his side’s poor start to the season reducing any hopes of challenging for the league title this season, manager Roberto Mancini will be aware that the competition provides City with the best chance of ending their long wait for silverware.

Mancini is expected to field a strong line up against West Brom with new signing David Silva likely to retain his place in the starting lineup with an excellent performance in the Europa League match against Salzburg while Emmanuel Adebayor could play a part after recovering from a leg injury.
