The Tractor Boys beat West Bromwich Albion 1-0 in the quarterfinals. The winning goal was scored from the penalty spot in the second half by Grant Leadbitter after Carlos Edwards was adjudged to have been fouled by Graham Dorrans.

Latics skipper Antolin Alcaraz sent Theo Walcott’s corner into his own net to put the Gunners ahead before the interval. Danish forward Nicklas Bendtner sealed victory for Arsene Wenger’s side midway through the second half, putting away an excellent pass from Carlos Vela.
