Arsenal will be hoping to finally end their six year wait for silverware by securing a comfortable victory when they take on Birmingham City in the final of the Carling Cup on Sunday. Watch all the live Carling Cup action here on Live Sport Network.

The Gunners last won a trophy back in 2005 when they beat Manchester United on penalties to lift the FA Cup. Since then they have struggled to mount any sort of title challenge, twice coming close to winning a trophy but losing out to Barcelona in the 2006 Champions League final and to Chelsea in the 2007 Carling Cup final.

However Arsenal start the game this weekend as clear favorites to secure the trophy, having beaten Tottenham, Newcastle, Wigan Athletic and Ipswich Town enroute to the final.

Birmingham on the other hand will be vying to win a major trophy for the first time in nearly five decades. The Blues’ last silverware triumph came way back in 1963 when they beat Aston Villa 3-1 on aggregate to lift the Carling Cup. However they have a poor recent record against Arsenal, losing three of the last four meetings while their last victory came back in 2004-05 season.
