Australia have been fantastic in this tournament so far and continued their fine showing in the quarter finals as well by beating Iraq by a 1-0 margin at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha. The match ended 0-0 after normal time, but a Harry Kewell goal in the 118^th minute gave Australia the right to face Uzbekistan.

The latter on the other hand, beat Jordan 2-1 at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha. A brace from Bakayev nullified Beni Yaseen’s 58^th minute goal and gave the Uzbeks a fine win.

Both sides will be raring to win this one, but Socceroos boss Holger Osieck will have to contend without midfielder Jason Culina, who is out of the tournament with a knee injury suffered during the quarterfinals. Uzbekistan coach Vadim Abramov will be banking on Bakayev to get the goals once again in this game.
