The Yellow Submarine will be looking to maintain their 100 percent away record in the competition with Villarreal winning all of their three away matches scoring at least two goals in each game. Coach Manuel Pellegrini's side qualified for the knockout stage after finishing at the top of group C, dropping just two points in the group stage.

Villarreal are in great form in the domestic La Liga competition and will look to translate that form into European wins as well.

Zenit on the other hand will be looking to continue their impressive home form in an European competition. The defending Russian champions' last defeat at home came way back in September 1999 when they lost 3-0 to Bologna FC in the UEFA Cup first round and they have remained undefeated in their 21 European games played since then.

However their record against Spanish opponents is poor, with Zenit winning just one of their four home games. Coach Dick Advocaat will also be looking to improve his record as he has failed to defeat a Spanish side in seven attempts of which he has lost five games.

 

 

 

But Advocaat will be confident of taking his team to victory with Villarreal yet to win a game in two attempts on the Russian soil, drawing one and losing the other. The winner of the round will face either Olympique de Marseille or FC Spartak Moskva in the Round of 16.
