On Matchday 4, the Russian champions registered their first ever UEFA Champions League victory over FC BATE Borisov to trigger dreams of making it through to the knock out stages especially after Juventus beat Real Madrid in successive home and away games.

Zenit St Petersburg began their maiden Champions League foray with a 0-1 loss to Juventus followed by a 1-2 loss to Real Madrid. In their next game, Zenit managed to hold Belarusian champions BATE to a 1-1 draw.

 

 

On Matchday 4, Zenit finally got their first win when they beat BATE 2-0 thanks to goals from Pavel Pogrebnyak and Danny. The Russian side will need to display the same intensity against Juve as well. Manager Dick Advocaat will have a fit squad and will hope home atmosphere will spur his players onto a much needed win.

Juventus meanwhile may be tempted to field a reserve squad having already booked their place in the next stages of the Champions League. Juve have 10 points from 4 games played so far having registered three wins and a draw.

 

 

The Turin club began their European campaign with a 1-0 win over Zenit at home followed by a 2-2 draw against BATE Borisov. However this result was soon forgotten as the Bianconeri beat Real Madrid 2-1 and 2-0 on successive Matchdays to ensure their ticket to the knockout stages.

At the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on Matchday four captain Alessandro Del Piero was in fine form and scored a brace to guide his side into the next stage. Juve boss Claudio Ranieri may be tempted to rest some of his top players for this game, but will still want a win after fans were disappointed during the weekend with Juve's loss to Inter Milan in Serie A.
