Wolves have 19 points from 20 games played so far and are languishing near the bottom three. Manager Mick McCarthy has made it clear that premiership survival is the main aim of the club this season. He will hope his side can put in a sterling performance and grab the initiative from fellow-strugglers Wigan.

McCarthy has been told that he will be given funds to bolster his team in January, but so far the club has not made any moves in the market. The return of Sam Vokes from a loan spell at Leeds will boost the strike force at McCarthy’s disposal although it is unclear if the latter will start this game.

Toulouse midfielder Fode Mansare is due to be given a trial at Wolves, while the club has also been linked with moves for Craig Gardner, Matthew Kilgallon and Middlesbrough winger Adam Johnson.

Meanwhile Wigan also have the same number of points as Wolves, but have a game in hand. The Latics have had a mixed season so far starting impressively with a win over Aston Villa, but slipping to huge losses against Tottenham and Manchester United.

Manager Roberto Martinez has already made some moves in the January market signing Serbian goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic and Ivory Coast defender Steven Gohouri.

When these teams met back in August at the DW Stadium, Wolves had snatched a 0-1 win thanks to a goal from Andrew Keogh. McCarthy will be hoping for similar results this time around as well.
