Wolves will be aware that having gained promotion is merely job half done. The club will want to ensure they stay in the Premier League for the next season as well and will hence want to begin well against West Ham.

Manager Mick McCarthy will have been delighted with his side's pe-season tour of Australia and will hope they can continue their good form here as well. Wanderers striker Chris Iwelumo will miss the start of the season after he broke a foot in the Oz tour.

The club has also brought in utility man Greg Halford and has persuaded Sylvan Ebanks-Blake to sign a contract extension that sees him tied to the club till 2013.

Meanwhile West Ham will face a tough season merely because they have not added depth to their squad. Manager Gianfranco Zola has had to work with tight finances and he has done admirably so far.

Zola is eyeing Barcelona striker Eidur Gudjohnsen and it remains to be seen if any deal materializes. He has already signed left-back Fabio Daprela from Grasshopper Club Zurich. He also wants to bring Mario Balotell from Inter Milan.
