Blackburn manager Paul Ince will be literally fighting for his job when the Rovers travel to the JJB Stadium to take in Wigan Athletic this weekend. With just three points from their last 10 games, Blackburn have slipped into the relegation zone. Manager Paul Ince is on thin ice and although the board has assured him of their support, media reports indicate Ince will be out of the way should results continue to go against him.

Last weekend the Rovers were beaten 1-3 at Ewood Park by Liverpool. Goals from Xabi Alonso, Yossi Benayoun and Steven Gerrard nullified Roque Santa Cruz's goal for the home side and deepened the pressure on the team.

 

 

To make matters worse it is being reported that Roque Santa Cruz is on his way out from the club and could join up with old boss Mark Hughes at Manchester City.

Meanwhile Wigan are comfortably placed on the 11th spot on the league table with 19 points from 16 games. The Latics were beaten 1-0 by Arsenal last weekend at the Emirates Stadium thanks to Emmanuel Adebayor's first-half strike.

 

 

The loss also ended Wigan's five-game unbeaten run. Manager Steve Bruce though will not be overly disappointed with the result. However he is under pressure due to fears that star striker Emile Heskey could be sold in January. Bruce has indicated he will only consider a huge offer and not miniscule sums for the England striker. Heskey is out of contract in the summer and could go out on a free transfer next season.
