Ryan Babel and Fabio Aurelio scored for the Reds after Trotters keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen had given them a lead with an own goal. Tamir Chohen grabbed a consolation goal for Bolton.

The loss leaves Bolton on the 18th spot on the league table with 25 points from 28 games. Bolton captain Kevin Nolan is a doubtful starter for this game with a back injury, but El-Hadji Diouf could return from suspension.
