Wigan have lost nine of their last ten Premiership games, the latest being an embarrassing 4-1 loss to Bolton. Manager Steve Bruce knows their Premiership season is doomed unless decent results manifest themselves pretty soon.

In their last Premiership game, Wigan were humbled at the Reebok Stadium by fellow strugglers Bolton. An own goal from Paul Scharner plus goals from Kevin Nolan, Kevin Davies and Nicolas Anelka nullified a 14th minute strike by Denny Landzaat and ensured Steve Bruce has one big headache at hand.

Bruce is also battling injury worries as Wigan sit deep in the relegation zone with just 9 points from 16 games. Striker Emile Heskey has sustained a groin strain on his return from a broken foot and Bruce will be hoping the England striker is back soon.

Coupled with this is the fact that skipper Mario Melchiot is in the middle of a three-match ban following his red card received against Manchester City.

Blackburn also have some thinking to do as they went down 0-1 at home to West Ham in their last Premiership clash. The Rovers boss Mark Hughes will be concerned with the lack of goals despite creating plenty of chances.

Defender Ryan Nelsen and David Bentley may be back after serving a one-match suspension, but Ooijer is in doubt with an undisclosed injury. Blackburn are 9th on the Premiership table with 26 points from 16 games.
