Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp is enjoying a nice run of success at the start of the new Premiership season. His careful investment in new players seems to have borne fruit as Pompey now occupy the fifth spot on the Premier League table and is within touching distance of the top four.
With six goals thus far in this season, Benjani Mwaruwari has proved he is a striker to be reckoned with Redknapp will be pleased with the form his team have shown so far. However for the Wigan clash he will be hampered by the absence of midfielder Richard Hughes, who has been handed a three-match ban for a deliberate head butt.
Hughes received a straight red card after he clashed with Birmingham City defender David Howland. Te incident took place in a reserve match. This means that Hughes will also miss the 4th round Carling Cup tie against Blackburn.
