The Toffees seem to have recovered from their blip in form and are unbeaten in their last eight games. Everton secured their third win in last four games with a comfortable 2-0 win over Sunderland on Wednesday. Tim Cahill opened the scoring early in the 6th minute before Landon Donovan wrapped up the points by scoring his first ever goal for Everton midway through the first half.

Wigan Athletic on the other hand continued their string of inconsistent performances with another disappointing defeat to Blackburn Rovers in the midweek. Gary Caldwell looked to have sealed a point for the Latics by restoring parity after Morten Gamst Pedersen had given Rovers the lead early in the first half only for Nikola Kalinic to grab the winner with just 14 minutes remaining on the clock.

Chris Kirkland remains out of contention for Wigan, which means that Vladimir Stojkovic is expected to retain his place for the Latics. Marco Ruben could make his debut for Wigan with the Villarreal striker expected to complete his move in a couple of days.

Mikel Arteta could start for Everton after coming on as a substitute late in the game against Sunderland while James Vaughan and Victor Anichebe have also recovered from their injuries.
