The Kop are three points behind United in the race for the league title and have played a game more than their arch rivals but manager Rafa Benitez is confident that United will drop points in their remaining matches and wants his side to be in the perfect position to take advantage of the slip up.

Liverpool could go top of the league table at least for a day if they manage to beat West Ham on Saturday and with United facing a tough task in their derby game against Manchester City which could see the defending champions drop points as the season enters its final three games.

While Liverpool are expected to beat West Bromwich Albion in their next match, Benitez will be aware that his side will have to gear up for a tough fight against West Ham this weekend before welcoming Tottenham Hotspur who will be chasing a UEFA Cup spot next season.

West Ham on the other hand will be going all out for a victory with the club having a great chance to qualify for Europe. The Hammers' 1-0 win over Stoke City last weekend saw them jump frog Fulham to seventh in the league table and with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City not far behind, manager Gianfranco Zola will be aware that any more slip ups will mean an end to their European dream.
