The Clarets have managed just one draw from their six away games so far this season. Having suffered five successive defeats on road, Burnley put up a brilliant display against Manchester City early this month to register their first away point with a 3-3 draw at the City of Manchester Stadium.

Burnley go into the match on the back of a disappointing draw against Aston Villa in their last match. Steven Caldwell had put the hosts ahead early in the ninth minute and the Burnley defense put up an excellent performance to keep out the Villa attack only for Emile Heskey to equalize with just four minutes remaining on the clock.

Chris McCann is still a week away from complete recovery and is not expected to take part in the game against West Ham along with Martin Paterson who is out with a knee injury.

Meanwhile West Ham boss Gianfranco Zola will be expecting an improved performance from his side in one of the most important games of the season for the Hammers. West Ham squandered a two goal lead to draw 3-3 against a 10 man Hull City side in their last match on Sunday.

While the result sees the Hammers climb out of the relegation zone, they are level on points with Bolton Wanderers who do have a game in hand.

Alessandro Diamanti and James Tomkins should return back to action after recovering from their injuries though Kieron Dyer remains a doubt with the midfielder yet to recover fully from his hamstring injury.
