The Hammers have recovered their footing after a mixed start to the season. Under Zola's stewardship, they have registered two straight wins. While the win against Newcastle was expected given the mess at St James' Park, West Ham had to work hand against a Fulham side that had claimed Arsenal's scalp early in the season.

 

 

Goals from Carlton Cole and Matthew Etherington ensured all three points for the Hammers against Fuulham last weekend. The two goals proved to be enough although Danny Murphy pulled one back from the penalty spot.

Zola though has got to deal with an increasingly desperate injury crisis at the club. The latest addition to an already long list of the walking wounded is striker Dean Ashton who could miss up to 4 weeks after injuring his ankle.

 

 

Meanwhile Bolton were very unlucky at Manchester United after a howler of a decision by the referee resulted in a first goal for United. The Red Devils ultimately won the game 2-0 after goals from Ronaldo and Rooney, but it was clear to see that referee Rob Styles' decision to award a penalty after Jlloyd Samuel's tackle demoralized Bolton.

The referee has since apologized to the club. Manager Gary Megson will hope his side can now recover and start afresh after suffering successive defeats to Arsenal and Manchester United.
