Goals from Morten Gamst Pedersen and Nikola Kalinic were enough for Blackburn to secure a narrow 2-1 win to move seven points clear of the relegation zone with more than half of the season gone. Manager Sam Allardyce expressed his delight at the result and will be hopeful that his side can go on a good run of form and challenge for a place inside the top half of the league table.

Meanwhile West Ham boss Gianfranco Zola will be looking to maintain their perfect home record against Blackburn and collect vital three points from the game this weekend. The Hammers have won the last nine matches between the two sides at Upton Park and will be optimistic of collecting another three points as they look to pull away from the drop zone.

The Hammers have won just once in their last five games and find themselves 16th in the league table, just one point above the drop zone. Though West Ham lost out to Tottenham in the race to sign Eidur Gudjohnsen, Zola will be looking to make some additions to the squad before the transfer window closes later this week.
