West Ham take on a rejuvenated Wigan Athletic side at Upton Park on Saturday with both the sides looking to get off to a good start in the new season. Watch all live Premier League action including West Ham vs Wigan Athletic Live online on Live Sport Network's control panel.

The Hammers go into the new season in a similar manner they had ended the previous one, with four key players missing the action due to injuries. Craig Bellamy suffered a hamstring injury during West Ham's pre season clash against Ipswich and the Wales captain is out for at least a month.

 

 

Both George McCartney and Anton Ferdinand too are suffering from hamstring injuries with McCartney out of action for two weeks while Ferdinand is a major doubt for the Wigan game. Manager Alan Curbishley starts the season with added pressure after media reports suggested that the West Ham manager is the favorite be the first Premiership manager to be sacked.

West Ham have managed just one major signing this season, bringing in Lazio's Valon Behrami in a deal reported to be around 5 million while Jan Lastuvka has joined the club on a season long loan from Shakhtar Donetsk.

 

 

Wigan Athletic on the other hand will be starting the new season high on confidence with manager Steve Bruce looking to try and break into the top half of the league table. Wigan have impressed under Bruce who pulled the club out from the relegation zone to a relatively comfortable 14th position.

Bruce has further strengthened his side, reuniting with Birmingham City duo Daniel de Ridder and Olivier Kapo while signing Egyptian striker Amr Zaki on loan. Zaki is statistically the best striker in the world and Bruce will be hopeful that his loan signing will provide the goals up front.
