The Hammers looked to be heading towards another defeat as Diniyar Bilyaletdinov gave Everton a first half lead but Manuel Da Costa equalized midway through the second half. Though Everton managed to restore their lead through Yakubu with just five minutes remaining on the clock, Aruajo Ilan headed home the equalizer to help his side collect their first point in seven games.

With Hull City expected to win against Burnley on Saturday, manager Gianfranco Zola will be keen to collect all three points against Sunderland and remain outside the relegation zone with just five more games remaining in the season.

Meanwhile Sunderland manager Steve Bruce will be hopeful that his side can build on their excellent performance against Tottenham Hotspur from last weekend and collect three more points. The Black Cats bounced back from a poor performance against Liverpool to register a comfortable 3-1 win to climb to 13th in the league table.

Bruce will be without George McCartney who is yet to recover from a hamstring injury though John Mensah and Andy Reid are available for selection. West Ham on the other hand will be missing a number of key players with Guillermo Franco, Jack Collison and Valon Behrami all out injured.
