The Magpies have hit top form at the right time of the season, winning four of their last five matches. Their much maligned defense has performed brilliantly during the period, conceding just one goal in the process in spite of the absence of their first choice keeper Shay Given.

Manager Kevin Keegan finally looks to have turned his side's form around and with Chelsea up next, will be hoping to make it five wins in six matches and move closer to achieving his aim of finishing in the top half of the league table.

Keegan will be missing a number of his key players with James Milner, Cacapa, Emre and Carr all out injured and will be once again looking at Michael Owen to continue his green patch in front of the goal.

Meanwhile West Ham's injury crisis shows no sign of abating as manager Alan Curbishley struggles to keep his side in the top half of the league table. The Hammers registered only their second win in eight matches with a hard fought victory against Derby County last weekend.

West Ham had taken the lead through Bobby Zamora in the 20th minute but Derby equalized in the second half through Tyrone Mears before Carlton Cole secured all three points by grabbing the winner 13 minutes before full time.

Newcastle start the match as favorites after securing a comfortable 3-1 victory in the reverse fixture early this season while West Ham search their first league victory over Newcastle since their 3-0 win back in 2001.
