West Ham manager Alan Curbishley will be going on the defensive for the remainder of the season as his side continues to struggle with a severe injury crisis that has seen almost all of his first team players sit on the sidelines. As many as 12 first team players are out injured for West Ham as Curbishley has had to chalk up the numbers from his reserve squad. Not surprisingly, West Ham's form has seen an alarming dip with the club managing to collect just 8 points from their last 11 matches, a sequence that has seen them slip out from a club in the race for a European spot to a club struggling to remain in the top half of the league table.

With the club scheduled to play Newcastle United, Manchester United and Aston Villa in their remaining matches, Curbishley will be hoping to collect all three points from the clash against Derby County this weekend as he looks to keep his side in the top half of the table.

Meanwhile Derby County are still smarting from their heavy 6-0 thrashing by Aston Villa last weekend. After a string of improved performances by his side, manager Paul Jewell will be very disappointed by the lack of determination shown by his team.

Derby are still four points behind the 15 point mark set by Sunderland two seasons ago and with just four matches remaining in the season, the Rams are facing the ignominy of registering the lowest number of points in a Premiership season.
