West Brom are in an early relegation dogfight as many predicted they would be. With just 11 points from 15 outings, the Baggies have sunk to the bottom of the league table and unless some drastci action is taken, seem destined for the Championship next season.

Last weekend they were beaten 2-1 by Wigan Athletic although they took a lead through Ishmael Miller. Goals from Henri Camara and Emmerson Boyce handed the Latics all three points and West Brom boss Tony Mowbray was left ruing missed chances once again.

 

 

Meanwhile Portsmouth registered a 3-2 win over Blackburn Rovers last weekend to keep their position in the top 10. Pompey are currently 8th with 22 points from 15 games.

In the Rovers game, goals from Peter Crouch, Jermaine Defoe and Sean Davies nullified that of Matt Derbyshire and Kerimoglu. The loss consigned Blackburn into the relegation zone. With all bottom-half games being potential six-pointers, Pompey cannot afford to drop any points as the season heads into a frantic Christmas schedule. Furthermore Portsmouth have a must-win UEFA Cup clash against Wolfsburg during the mid-week before they travel to West Brom.

 

 

Portsmouth boss Tony Adams has injury concerns ahead of this game as Jermain Defoe and Lassana Diarra are struggling with calf and ankle injuries respectively. However the pair does not require surgery as of now and could still feature in this game.
