The Baggies have revived hopes of survival with decent results in their last few games although fatigue may be a factor for this one as they play Peterborough in a FA Cup replay on Wednesday. Manager Tony Mowbray will hope his side can seize the initiative in this game in front of home fans.

Last week they lost 2-1 to Aston Villa, who scored through Curties Davies. A Scott Carson own goal handed them all three points and although James Morrison pulled one back it was too late to stop the loss. Morrison is now out due to a hamstring injury, while Gianni Zuiverloon is also doubtful with a knee issue for West Brom.

 

 

Meanwhile Middlesbrough are dangerously close to the drop zone as they have collected 21 points from 21 games to occupy the 16th spot. Manager Gareth Southgate will be hoping for all three points from this encounter as he hopes to avoid a messy relegation battle at the end of the season.

Last week Boro were held to a 1-1 draw by Sunderland. Afonso Alves gave his side the lead with his first league goal since October, but Kenwyne Jones scored his seventh goal of the season in the 82nd minute to rescue a point for the visitors.

 

 

Southgate will also hope that the fans' reception last week will convince Stewart Downing to stay at the Riverside after the club turned down an offer for the winger from Tottenham.
