The Premiership trapdoor appears to be closing on West Brom as they slipped to another defeat last week. This time Sunderland managed a fantastic showing beating the Baggies 4-0 with striker Kenwyne Jones netted a brace, while Andy Reid and Djbril Cisse grabbed a goal each.

The loss leaves West Brom rooted to the bottom spot on the league table with 12 points from 17 games. Unless things turn around drastically in the next couple of games, Tony Mowbray's men are in danger of slipping right back into the Championship next season.

 

 

Manchester City, for all their new found wealth and the excitement generated at Eastlands by the arrival of Robinho earlier in the summer, have found the going tough. City are brilliant in one game as they were when they routed Arsenal 3-0, but slip into an abyss in their next game.

It is important for manager Mark Hughes to find the right balance at the club and with constant talk of big arrivals in the January transfer window, Hughes appears to be confused about his approach.

 

 

Manchester City slipped to a 1-0 loss against Everton last week with Tim Cahill scoring the lone goal. To compound matters, City play in the UEFA Cup midweek and will need to win to top their group. Benjani Mwaruwari and Daniel Sturridge are doubtful with hamstring and Achilles injuries respectively, but Richard Dunne, who missed the UEFA Cup match against Racing Santander because of personal issues, should feature in this game.
