Confidence will be high at the Hawthorns after West Brom registered their first league win this season, beating West Ham 3-2 last weekend 15th in the league table. It was a comfortable outing for West Brom as James Morrison, Roman Bednar and Chris Brunt were all on target and even though West Ham did well to come back from a goal down to take the lead, the Baggies coach Tony Mowbray will be disappointed that his team was unable to secure a more convincing victory.

 

 

Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill though will be hoping that his side can maintain their good start to the season as long as possible as he looks to try and break into the top four come the end of the season.

Villa are currently sitting fourth in the league table with 7 points from their first four matches. Fans will be hopeful that their side can build on their good performances from the last two matches and put up a real fight to finish in the top four for the first time in 12 years.

 

 

Villa go into the match on the back of a 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. Nigel Reo-Coker opened the scoring early in 5th minute and Ashley Young added the second nine minutes after half time. Darren Bent scored a consolation goal late in the match but Villa hung on to claim all three points from the clash.

The last six meetings between Villa and West Brom have ended with Martin O'Neill's side winning two and drawing four. Villa had won this fixture last time the two teams met in the league back in 2006 and fans will be satisfied with a similar result this time around.
