Defending champions Tottenham Hotspur meet Championship opposition for the first time in this year’s Carling Cup when they travel to Vicarage Road to face Watford in a quarter final fixture. Sign up today to watch Watford vs Tottenham Live and all other Carling Cup quarter final games live.

Tottenham beat Liverpool 4-2 in the previous round, with Roman Pavlyuchenko and Frazier Campbell grabbing two apiece. Pavlyuchenko was also on target against Newcastle in the third round, a game which Spurs won 2-1.

 

 

Spurs have performed consistently in the Carling Cup in the last few years, having made it to the last eight in five of the last six seasons. Vicarage Road has not been a very happy hunting ground for Spurs though- the last time they beat Watford there was in the winter of 1984. Since then, Watford have won two of the last five games between these two teams at Vicarage Road, with the remaining three ending in a draw.

Watford registered an upset over fellow Championship club Swansea City in the fourth round. Lee Williamson was the scorer for the Hornets. Watford have only conceded once in the Carling Cup this season, and that was against Darlington in the third round. They kept clean sheets against Bristol Rovers, West Ham and Swansea.

 

 

Watford’s most recent league game saw them draw 1-1 with Doncaster- new boss Brendan Rodgers’ first game in charge of the Hornets. Tommy Smith was Watford’s scorer against Doncaster.
