The Blues have agreed to a deal that sees Russia coach Guus Hiddink in charge for the remaining four months of the season after Scolari was sent packing following a poor run of results.

Chelsea have also been beset with injury worries and the non-arrival of new players in the January transfer window appears to have hit them hard.

Watford advanced to the fifth round after a thrilling 4-3 win over Crystal Palace in the previous round. Jay DeMerit and Jack Cork gave Watford a two-goal cushion before Clint Hill pulled one back for Palace. However goals from Will Hoskins and Grzegorz Rasiak put Watford in the pole position. But palace recovered with goals from Neil Danns and Paul Ifill to ensure a tense finish.
