Wales take on Poland in a final friendly match for John Toshack before his side takes on Finland and Germany in a crucial double header next month for Wales' World Cup 2010 hopes. Catch all the live streaming soccer here on Live Sport Network. Wales are currently sitting third in their qualification table; level on points with second placed Russia but have played a game more than their Russian counterparts. With his side scheduled to face tough home games against Finland and Germany next month, Toshack will be looking to get his tactics and line up right as he attempts to help Wales qualify for the World Cup for the first time since 1958 when they made it to the quarter finals of the tournament.
Owain Fon Williams has been called up to the national squad for the first time since impressing for the Wales under-21s squad that narrowly missed out on a place in the Euro finals last year. There are no other surprises with John Toshack naming a strong squad for the friendly though Rob Earnshaw and Craig Morgan miss out due to injuries. Meanwhile Poland coach Leo Beenhakker will be expecting an improved performance from his side after they were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw by Lithuania on Saturday. Pawel Brozek had put Poland in an early lead in the 11th minute but Arunas Klimavicius equalized for Lithuania in the 26th minute.
Beenhakker blamed poor pitch and the winter break for the poor performance, adding that his side will have to get back in shape as soon as possible if they are to keep their qualification hopes alive with Poland set for a tough trip to Northern Ireland next month.
