Wales v Republic of Ireland LiveWales will be looking to finish their Euro 2008 qualifier campaign on a high when they meet Republic of Ireland in their next qualifier match on Saturday.
With Germany and Czech Republic bagging the two available places, both the teams are out of the race to qualify for the next year's tournament and will be playing their remaining two matches for pride and finish the campaign as high up the table as possible.
Wales could lift themselves from sixth position to third if they manage to beat Republic of Ireland and Germany in their remaining two matches and coach John Toshack will be looking to silence his critics with some determined performance from his team over the next week.
Wales will be without the services of Tottenham Hotspur full back Gareth Bale as he is yet to recover from his foot injury as well as star striker Craig Bellamy who suffered a groin injury. Toshack has recalled Swansea City midfielder Owain Tudur-Jones, who missed action for nearly a year with knee injury.
Meanwhile Under-21 coach Don Givens has taken temporary responsibility of the national team for Republic of Ireland after Steve Staunton resigned from his position as the manager of the national team. Givens has called up Steven Reid and Andy O'Brien for the first time in over a year while Shay Given and Joey O'Brien have been included in spite of fitness worries over the duo.
