Both the teams have collected eight points from their first four matches and with Celtic scheduled to play Aalborg BK later in the day, a draw will be enough for both the teams to go through to the knockout stages. While qualification to the next round is all but confirmed, both the teams will be looking to collect all three points from the clash with the winner assured of finishing at the top of the group table.

Villarreal and United have played thrice in the competition but both the teams have failed to score a goal in the fixtures. Both the teams were clubbed together in the same group in the 2005-06 season and the results between the two teams proved to be costly for United that time around with the English champions finishing bottom of their group table.

Villarreal have a good record against English opponents at home, winning two and drawing two of their four matches played at El Madrigal. The Yellow Submarine have lost just once both home and away against an English club, win Arsenal winning their semi final first leg match at Highbury before holding them to a 0-0 draw in Spain.

United on the other hand have a horrible record on Spanish soil, managing just one win out of their 17 visits with nine of them ending in defeats in the Champions League. The defending champions' only victory came against Deportivo La Coruna back in 2001-02 season when goals from Rudd Van Nistelrooy and David Beckham helped them to a 2-0 win.

However United have been impressive away from home in the recent years with the English club not losing away from home in their last eight matches with their last defeat in the competition coming in their semi final defeat to AC Milan in the 2006-07 season.
