The Spanish side has collected four points from their first two matches and with Celtic scheduled to play away to Manchester United, Villarreal could go six points clear of the third placed team if they collect all three points against Aalborg and Celtic fail to avoid defeat against United.

While Villarreal are yet to lose a European match at home, coach Manuel Pellegrini will be disappointed with any result other than a victory against Aalborg on Tuesday. The Spanish club has impressed in their two matches so far in the Champions League, holding defending champions Manchester United to a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford in their first match and followed it up with a vital 1-0 win at home to Celtic in their last match.

 

 

Meanwhile Aalborg coach Bruce Rioch will be hoping that his side can upset the odds once again on their travels and come away from Spain with a vital point that will keep them in contention for a third placed finish.

Aalborg had held Celtic to a 0-0 draw in their first match of the group stages but suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat to United in their last match with Dimitar Berbatov scoring a brace and Wayne Rooney adding the third. The Danish side is yet to face a defeat on road so far in Europe this season and has already beaten FK Modrica and FBK Kaunas in the qualifying stages apart from their draw against Celtic.
